My Ironstone Collection

For the past couple of years I've being, slowly, collecting pieces of ironstone. I love the beauty and simplicity of ironstone, and specially the story behind each piece. I got some pieces at the Brimfield Antique show, some others at my local antique mall, and a very few at my local thrift store. This is always very exciting, when I found ironstone at the thrift store!!
I also love to display ironstone platters, dishes and small bowls in my walls.
I decided to change things around in my hutch and display my ironstone collection here.
This is how it looked before.

It was a mix mach of ironstone, silver and crystal pieces.

And here it is now, filled up with all my beautiful ironstone!

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day!

My Easter Mantel

Hello! Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday! I started the day with a yoga class, and Oh, I feel so rested and relaxed after that!! Hubby took the kids to the mall for a bit, so I could get things ready for Easter tomorrow. Since the business is done, and the house is quiet, I would like to show you my fireplace mantel decorated for Easter.

I kept it very simple, I just added candles in different heights achieved with vintage books.  And a mix of brass and glass candle holders.

I added a garland of dried branches and Easter eggs to make it look more Eastery.

Inside the fire place I added a basket with dried hydrangeas for a touch of spring!
I live in New England and the winters are extremely cold, so we do make fires pretty much every weekend. It is very nice and cozy to sit by the fire. But that takes a toll in the fire place and it is very, well, burned and kind of dirty looking, even thou I did clean all the ashes inside. I will be giving it a coat of fresh paint soon!

Since the family is not back yet, and they just opened a huge Home Goods not too far from my house, I think I am going to run over to see what I can find! I am hoping for some spring pillows, we'll see what comes home with me!!

Happy Easter!

Dressed up for Easter!

Hello! Hope you are enjoying some spring weather in your neck of the woods. Like my mother in law says, March comes like a lamb and leaves like a lion, or something like that.
She is a very smart and savvy woman, and sure enough, we had such beautiful weather at the beginning of March, very spring like, but now, we are back on the thirties, rainy and cold. In fact, we had a snow day on Monday, no school, so that was kind of crazy for this mama, to have everyone home, specially when I  was trying to get ready for Easter and get so much done!!

Slowly but surely I am getting there. Today I will like to show you my dining room table all dressed up for Ester!

Today Is Good Friday, and my three kids are in a play at church representing the Stations of the Cross. We gotta go in fifteen minutes and the kids are not dressed yet, so I will keep it short and sweet! Short for sure, hopefully sweet too! ;)
I hope you enjoyed my Easter tablescape!

Dining Room Buffet

You never know when you are going to find a treasure! I went to buy some chalk paint to refinish some furniture for a client, when I stumbled into this gorgeous and amazing buffet.

After coming home with my heart going pitter patter and telling hubby all about it, he agreed on buying it and he even went to pick it up for me. Yup, hubby of the year!

This is how it looked when it came home

I painted the inside in Old White by ASCP and the outside in Paris Gray also by ASCP.
Then I painted all the details in Old white. I distressed everything by lightly sanding it and finish it by applying a coat of clear wax and another coat of dark wax both by AS.

I just love this piece! Hope you enjoyed this transformation!
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous week!!
