My Estate Sale Purchases Part 2

Yesterday I showed you some of the things I bought at an Estate Sale I went a while back. You can read about it Here and Here

Today I am going to show you the rest of my purchases.

My oldest son Matthew, he is 8 years old and he is very interested in geography. The world and it's different countries and cultures fascinates him. He loves to look at maps and to study everything about different countries and parts of the world. He knows so many facts and information about different countries that amazes me. He also loves flags, and knows and draws flags from all over the world.

So when I saw this pictures at the estate sale, I though of him and I knew he would love them.

Needless to say they ended up in his room, hang right by his bed.

He also has a collection of gloves on top of his armoire.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

My Estate Sale Purchases Part 1

A while ago I went to my first estate sale. You can read about it HERE
Today I would like to show you some of the things I purchased.

I found a few blue and white ironstone platters, a lit, a gravy boat and a tureen.

I hang this beautiful platter above a wooden antique tray on my kitchen wall, next to the hutch.

It mimics the other side where another blue and white platter hang above an old bread board.

This gorgeous tureen is my dining room table center piece at the moment.

Isn't it gorgeous?

I purchased something else, but in order not to keep this post too long, I will show you tomorrow. Stay tuned!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A new addition in the guest room

My guest room is a work in progress, as it's pretty much everything around here ;)

I feel like I always send all the cast offs to the guest room. So it's pretty much furnished with hand me downs.

I very much love the bed in here thou, it was my bed and I eyed that bed for years before I got it. It's the Mendocino bed from Pottery Barn.

Before I got married and had my own home I loved to look at the PB catalogs and dream of my future home.

I was in love with that bed since the first time I lied my eyes on it. So when I got married and hubby and I were ready to purchase a bedroom set I had no doubt of what bed to get!

It was our bed for many years, until a couple of years ago, due to the population of this home moving into our bed in the middle of the night and being a crowd of sometimes five of us in bed we decided to upgrade to a king size. So the beautiful Mendocino bed went to the guest room who was sporting a gorgeous side of the road headboard back then.

The dresser was again a hand me down from the nursery, once I redecorated my daughter's room to a "big girl" room I no longer needed that dresser in her room and off to the guest room it went.

Until the other day when I found a dresser that took my breath away, needless to say it came home with me.

I loved it so much that I wanted to put in in my room so I could look at it and see it everyday.

Truth to be told I hardly ever go in the guest room. But realistically it will look better in the guest room as the furniture in my room is black, so I decided to leave my room as is and to treat the guest room to a nice beautiful piece.

I replaced the dresser there for this "new" old one. It is an empire dresser in beautiful condition.

I love to paint furniture and the look of painted furniture. But this dresser is too gorgeous as is and it is in absolutely perfect condition. So I am leaving it alone.

I moved here the 7 Up crate that used to be in my kitchen island and put on it some amenities for my guests.

It's gorgeous, don't you think? I go now and then to the guest room and just take a quick pick at it thru  the door and always get a big smile on my face! :)

Reusing a Flower Bouquet

On Easter Sunday Hubby and they kiddos got me this beautiful flower bouquet.

Is being on my kitchen island since then. Some of the flowers were starting to look sad so I let those go, but the rest were still going strong!
I rearranged the still healthy looking ones in several up cycled glass jars and arranged them in my antique tool box as a center piece on my kitchen table. I mixed the flowers with some candles, and here is the result!

Looks very springy and happy! Don't you think?
Thanks so much for stopping by, have a fabulous day!!

Estate Sale

What an exciting way to start my day to see my dining-room-chairs make over featured in Concord Cottage. A beautiful Blog. Make sure to visit it you would love it!!

On Saturday I went to my very first estate sale.

It was a home of long time collectors,  filled with an amazing assortment of stunning items. Great antique furniture, multiple sets of sterling silver, original oil paintings and works of art, oriental rugs, amazing chandeliers and lots and lots of goodies!

They started handing out numbers at 6:00 AM, and opened the doors at 9:00 AM. Hubby and I got there around 8 and got number 38!

First thing I notice was the beautiful front door.

As you came in there was the dining room with a mahogany dining table and 8 dining chairs and a couple of hutches.

On the table there was this beautiful centerpiece. One-of-a-kind commissioned sterling silver centerpiece done by world renowned silversmith and Prince Philip Medal winner Jocelyn Burton with original artwork and documentation depicting lilies, tulips, fruits and nuts in a stunning display of craftsmanship and artistry.

with an incredible price tag of $35,000.00 dollars!

Here are some pictures of other things that caught my eye!

It was a fun experience!! I purchased some white and blue ironstone dishes that I'll show you soon and I also purchased something in this pictures that I am sharing today. Can you guess what did I bought?

The weather is finally nice, Alleluia!!! So we started some yard work yesterday and cooked our first dinner on the grill and ate it outside. It felt so good to finally be able to enjoy the outdoors and to get some fresh air! The kids had a blast riding bikes and playing in the yard. They all slept like rocks last night!
It supposed to rain tomorrow, today its beautiful and sunny so I'm going to do more yard work, wanna bit the frogs!! LOL, we have a cranberry bog behind our yard and as soon as the weather gets nice, we have tons and tons of frogs. Me no like frogs jumping all over so I don't get my hands near the ground once they wake up. There for I need to get my yard work done before the froggys are up for the season!!

Thanks for stopping by!! Have a fabulous day!!
