A Surprise came in the mail!

Hello my dear friends! How are you doing today? I have to tell you how excited I was on Friday when I saw my post "Spring is in the Air" at one of my favorites Blogs. It was such an honor to be featured by Courtney from "French Country Cottage" and to see my wooden dough bowl dressed up for spring in her blog. You have to go over and take a look, you will find so much beautiful inspiration for spring!! Courtney has such an exquisite taste for decorating. I absolutely love her style. Her kitchen is my dream kitchen and my inspiration! I am very grateful to be featured on her Blog!

A few weeks ago, I saw a gorgeous french-y looking clock at "Decor Steals" I thought it will look great in my kitchen, so I ordered.

When I came home today, it was here, waiting for me! I was very excited and immediately opened the package.
Oh, it is so gorgeous!

Isn't it beautiful? I know it will put a smile on my face every time I look at it!
I love the roman numbers and the center of it simulating some old wood. I also like the faded white rim where the numbers are, It looks antique and so old, like it has being telling time for many, many years!!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a lovely day!

Lemon Bread

Can you believe Easter is around the corner? Time sure flies when you are having fun! :)
I am not sure what my Easter menu will be yet, but I know for sure that this delicious lemon bread will be part of it.

Ingredients:
2 eggs
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1/3 c. vegetable oil
1 1/2 tsp grated lemon peel (I love lemon, so I do a whole lemon)
1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder

Preheat oven 350. Grease and flour loaf pan.
Combine flour, sugar and baking powder in a large bowl.
Beat eggs, evaporated milk, oil and lemon zest together.
Pour egg mix into flour mix to just combine.
Bake 55 to 60 minutes. When you take it out of the oven, poke holes all over and drizzle lemon syrup over the bread.

Lemon Syrup:
1/3 c. sugar
1/4 c. lemon juice ( I use the juice of a whole lemon)
Cook over medium heat stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved and light syrup  forms, about 5 minutes.

It is really quick, easy and delicious!
Look who is patiently waiting for mommy to finish taking pictures of the lemon bread to have a big slice!!

Thanks for visiting and have a fabulous day!

A new slipcover for my ottoman.

A while back, when I redecorate my family room, I needed an ottoman to go in front of one of my chairs.
This is where hubby sits to watch TV, and where I sit to read, I wanted us to be comfy and to be able to put our feet up and relax.

So I found this round ottoman at my local thrift store. I loved the round shape and the size, but the fabric color and pattern wasn't going to work out. It was olive green with cream flowers.

So I quickly made this cover out of a drop cloth.

It was like this for a long time, but it never looked right to me. It was something off about it. Don't you think?

So on a rainy Sunday I decided to dissect the ottoman cover and start over.

I took it all apart and this time I made a straight strip to go across all around it, shortening the skirt. I think it already looks better.
The skirt before was too long. But it was the first one I ever made, so I guess you live you learn, right?

I also change the direction of the pleats. I like it this way much better! Thank goodness the piping worked as the top was the same size. I don't like to make piping. So I was happy to recycle that part and use the same!!

Do you see where I am going here? Yes, I do have a bit of an obsession at the moment with European grain sacks. So out came the tape and the paint!!

And here it is!

So much better, don't you think?

Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you enjoyed my ottoman slipcover makeover!
Have a great day!!

Spring in the Kitchen

Oh Spring, where are you? Today we had some really low temps with snow, yikes!!
Next week we are expecting sunshine and warming up to the sixties, go figure! I'll take the warm and sun any day over the cold and snow!!
Nothing like fresh flowers to warm and cheer up an space. I love tulips this time of year specially the soft pastel colored ones.
I picked these ones up at the grocery store the other day to add a touch of Spring in the kitchen.

I have a collection of blue mason jars on my window sill, right above my kitchen sink. Since it seems like I spend a good portion of my day right here, I put some of the tulips in some of the mason jars to enjoy them while I do the dishes!

Every time I photograph this window it comes out so dark. Sorry!

I also put some tulips in my antique tool box as a center piece on my kitchen table.

This is my grandma's china. I love to play with it once in a while! My mom and I bought the glass candies in Murano Italy on a trip years ago.

Since we are in the Kitchen, I would like to show you this window valance that I found treasure hunting last week. It was only $ 2.99 woohoo! :)
I love the color and the floral pattern on it! To be hones with you I bought it to make a pillow out of it. When I went home I decide to try it in the kitchen window and it worked!! At least for now! ;)

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend!!

Spring in the Powder Room!

If you missed my last two post, I shared how I find inspiration in birds, eggs and nests for my Spring decor.  You can read about it here and here. I promise this will be my last birds post!! :)

I really liked the birds idea so I carried that to my powder room.
I have a couple of glass apothecary jars on my vanity counter top. I like to change the contents according with the season, I filled them up with sea shells in the summer, pine cones in the winter and now I added moss, moss balls and birds!!

Thank you for visiting! Have a wonderful day!!
