French Blue Armoire

This is a sweet armoire that I thought about selling many times. This armoire is close to my heart as it is part of the bedroom set I purchased years ago for my first baby.  Once his sister was on the way, his bedroom with the furniture in it became my baby daughter's bedroom. I have great memories of all the baby clothes and blankets, and baby things in it... I am very sentimental this is a problem sometimes as I have a hard time letting go!!

Once the babies grow a little bit and were no longer babies, their rooms were changed and redecorated. This armoire ended up in the guest room. It was a honey color and didn't go very well with the rest of the room. Instead of getting rid of it, I decided to give it a makeover and make it work with the room.

I did some experimenting with a few colors. I painted the first coat with Old Ochre by ASCH (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint)

Then I painted two coats of Napoleon Blue by ASCP

And dry brushed some strokes in Paris Gray and Old white.

Then I sanded it down a bit and apply a coat of ASCP white wax

Here is a before!

I think it turned out really cool, and this color goes so much better with the rest of the room!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this armoire makeover.

  5. Lovely job! The blue is pretty and I am interested that there is now a white wax from annie sloan....I tried the white wax from Amy Howard (purchased at ACE) and found it almost impossible to use!
