French Chairs

Last summer I found this pair of French Chairs in a local Face Book yard sale. I was just browsing thru, not looking for anything in particular... but I jumped out of my seat when I saw them  and I new I had to get them!! Does that also happens to you too? When I want something I can't find it any where, but when I am not looking for anything in particular, things seems to find me!
I wasn't sure where they will end up living but I have a soft spot for French chairs and I knew that I could gladly find some place to put them, I knew I could make room for those two cuties!! When you see something that makes you stop on your tracks, don't pass it for fear of what to do with it. If you love it, you'll find the way to incorporate it in your space or decor!

The person that I bought them from, started an upholstery job. The fabric she chose wasn't ideal for my taste and decor so I reupholstered them. For the back rests I use a fabric I purchased at Brimfield Antique Show.

It is a drop cloth with a french stencil. For the seats I use a drop cloth. The color of the chairs was fine, but I gave them a quick coat of ASCP (Annie Sloan Chalk Pain) in Old White. Then I use a light coat of dark wax.

This is how the chairs looked like when I purchased them:

And this is how they look now!

They are happily living in my bedroom!

Have you notice my new Blog design? I love it!! It's like a breath of fresh air!
I am so happy you stopped by today and I hope you enjoyed my french chairs make over!
Please say Hi before you go and leave me a comment I would love to hear from you!
Have a wonderful day!

  1. Hello beautiful new blog design! I love it!

The chairs are amazing. What a great find. We have a chair almost just like these in storage right now. When we get to our new house I'll be refinishing it. The chair used to belong to my husband's grandmother. It's currently covered in gold leaf. Hello 1960s!
